About the workshop

We are going to Portugal once again! But this time — in June. This is when the famous Lisbon festival and one of Europe's most lively and crazy street festivals — São João in Porto are both taking place. Throughout the workshop, we will have a great chance to take photos, being right there, in the center of the activities. The great mood and the friendliness of the people around us will make feel comfortable even those, who are only starting to take photos of people on the streets.

Day 1
June 19, Thursday

Arrival to Lisbon, check-in to the hotel, introduction.

Lisbon is an unforgettable city, where you want to return again and again. A city, you set up an invisible connection to, ever since you step on its streets for the first time. The old quarters take us back in time, as in a fairy tale. The ocean – the breath of Lisbon – changes the weather as often, as a girl changes her mood. Fado – the voice of Lisbon, the Portuguese romance, the name of it goes back to the latin word "fatum", which means _ fate, destiny.

Days 2-4
June 20 – 22, Friday – Sunday

Walking the streets of the city in the morning and evening light, taking photos, finding interesting happenings (we will provide you with an indicative list of the interesting sites in the city), and discussing the photos taken each day after lunch.

Day 5
June 23, Mondayк

After several days in Lisbon, we take a train to Porto, where we will find ourselves in the midst of the preparations for the Festa de São João, the most important festival of Porto, the one, when the city gets completely crazy. The atmosphere of total happiness spreads all around, and literally hangs in the air. Porto gets back to its roots in pagan courtship rituals. Around the midnight, the party takes a break for the fantastic fireworks, one of the best you are ever to see in your life. But even after the fireworks are over, the people of Porto continue the celebrations, often getting back home only in the morning hours.

Day 6
June 24, Tuesday
We wake up late, and start the day with processing the photos made during the festival. Then, after lunch, gather up once again to make the final discussion and selction of the best photos from the workshop. In the afternoon, another walk around the city, and a farewell dinner.

Day 7
June 25, Wednesday
