About the workshop
We’ve been planning this trip for a long time and tried to make it as entertaining as possible while keep it informative. You’ll get to see London with its capital city glamour, old parks and new City. With our guides Mark Power and professor Grigory Yaroshenko we’ll visit Tate Modern gallery, stop by Magnum Photos, stroll in East End and Docklands. We’ll try to give you a different perspective on London than you would get from travel guides and tourist maps. We’ll travel to Brighton, one of the most attractive towns on Britain’s southern coast. We’ll stop by Mark Power’s place for tea and he’ll review pictures, show us the house and workshop, his fine photo library gathered over many years and, of course, the town itself. At Brighton’s oldest pub we’ll sample local ale with fresh cod or fine stake.
Then we’ll go to Black Country, a region west of Birmingham, once a prospering industrial area hard-hit by the economic downturn. You’ll get to see an entirely different country of gray concrete and red brick, still retaining its unique spirit and hallmark British elegance. Prepare for intensive and busy time, photo review and discussions. It’s sure to be a very exciting, useful and memorable week.
